Our Overwatch 2 Sojourn abilities overview provides everything you need to learn the ins and outs of the ex-Overwatch captain’s kit. Essentially, she’s a mid-range damage dealer with added movement utility, allowing her to successfully navigate the most complex maps.
Sojourn is one of the brand-new Overwatch 2 characters available at launch in Blizzard’s sequel. Much like Soldier: 76, Sojourn’s abilities are guaranteed to appeal to those fond of traditional FPS games, and her performance very much depends on whether or not you’re a clean shot. Feeling confident? Read on for our Overwatch 2 Sojourn abilities overview, including tips on how best to utilise them in one of the best free PC games available to play.
Sojourn abilities
The Overwatch 2 Sojourn gameplay trailer provides an effective demonstration of Sojourn’s moment-to-moment gameplay, when her cybernetic abilities are firing on all cylinders.
However, Sojourn’s skill ceiling is deceptively high, and if you don’t have a handle on exactly how her abilities operate, you might find yourself watching the multiplayer game’s kill cam more often than you’d like.
Railgun
Sojourn’s primary fire delivers nine damage per shot, but uses 14 rounds per second, for a total of 45 rounds before requiring a reload. The reload time itself is a snappy 1.2 seconds, so there’s no reason not to lay down covering fire at every opportunity. As with most charge-based abilities, Overwatch 2 tank heroes are great for feeding your railgun due to their comparatively large hitboxes.
Once she’s generated enough energy via her primary fire, you can discharge it with her secondary fire, which serves as a more traditional railgun shot that delivers between 30-130 damage. Much like its damage output, its area-of-effect also scales with the amount of energy generated but tops out at 0.1 metres.
Power Slide
Sojourn’s Power Slide ability is a rock-powered slide that can be cancelled into a high leap simply by jumping, granting her exceptional manoeuvrability on Overwatch 2 maps that can combat a wide variety of situations. There are limited options when it comes to duking it out in close quarters, so keeping your distance from Overwatch 2 DPS heroes is an absolute must for survivability as Sojourn. Power Slide isn’t a cure-all, but it can allow you to quickly take cover and reposition yourself during active combat. Alternatively, you can take an aggressive approach and use Power Slide to duck beneath enemy shields, or launch yourself above the conflict to rain fire down from above.
Disruptor Shot
Sojourn’s Disruptor Shot is an AoE projectile that snares enemies for a duration of four seconds, dealing a total of 210 damage over time. The enemy slowdown created by the snare presents the perfect opportunity to build up Sojourn’s railgun charge helps Sojourn build up that railgun charge as enemies are slowed down. The Disruptor Shot’s range extends to 30 metres, while the perimeter of the AoE itself is 5 metres. It also comes with a lengthy 15-second cooldown attached, so be sure not to miss your target. There’s no incorrect target for Disruptor Shot, but it’s a very clean method to immediately shut down Overwatch 2 support heroes, dispatching them and leaving the rest of their team to fend for themselves.
Ultimate: Overclock
The Sojourn Ult ability, Overclock, amplifies the existing damage output of her Railgun by auto-charging the energy required to use its secondary fire. Overclock remains active for nine seconds, and is capable of fully refilling Sojourn’s energy every 1.2 seconds, for a total of up to seven possible railgun shots. Additionally, the railgun’s secondary fire will pierce through enemies for Overclock’s duration.

Overwatch 2 Sojourn tips
There’s a reason Sojourn is near the top of our Overwatch 2 tier list: she’s a devastatingly effective, versatile, and simple damage hero. The basic loop is to charge your railgun by shooting at tanks, throw down a Disruptor Shot to slow down and hurt a target, and then line up an alt-fire headshot on anyone inside the Disruptor Shot’s AoE. Take too much damage and you can slide away from the fight.
She’s a classic damage hero, so just hover around the frontline staying relatively safe and use those charged railgun shots on any weakened targets – especially supports.
