What is the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 price? The 70 class graphics cards have finally left the factory floor to join its siblings on store shelves, making the cost of DLSS 3 much more attainable. But are the cards worth it? Well, after testing both the RTX 4070 and RTX 4070 Ti extensively, we’ve got all the answers.
In our Nvidia RTX 4070 review and Nvidia RTX 4070 Ti review, we thoroughly analyze the performance and value offered by each pixel pusher. While one is more powerful than the other, either could serve as the best graphics card for you, depending on your needs and budget.
When is the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 release date?
The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 released on April 13, 2023. It’s bigger brother, the RTX 4070 Ti, made its debut a little bit earlier on January 5, 2023.
The RTX 4070 Ti, then known as the RTX 4080 12GB, was initially due to arrive on November 16, 2022. However, Nvidia opted to “unlaunch” and rebrand the GPU, pushing its release back. We think this affected the release date of the RTX 4070 too.
Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 price
The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 price is $599.99 and the RTX 4070 Ti costs $799.99. While you may find Founders Edition models of the RTX 4070 at the card’s MSRP, the RTX 4070 Ti is only available via board partners.
Nvidia has opted to increase the price of the RTX 4070 by $100 in comparison to its predecessor, the RTX 3070. However, it’s the RTX 4070 Ti that’s received the bigger bump, coming in at $200 more expensive than the RTX 3070 Ti.
Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 specs
The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 specs include the AD104 GPU, 12GB of GDDR6X VRAM, in addition to third generation RT cores and fourth generation Tensor Cores. The RTX 4070 Ti shares all of these qualities too, albeit with more cores (including CUDA.)
RTX 4070 specs | RTX 4070 Ti specs | |
GPU | AD104 | AD104 |
VRAM | 12GB GDDR6X | 12GB GDDR6X |

Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 benchmarks
We’ve been waiting for a new mid-range GPU to come in and sweep the market and the results from our Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 benchmarks suggest it could be that card. While it struggles at 4K, it is clearly capable at handling anything at 1080p and 1440p.
So, if you’re looking for a new GPU that won’t break the bank and will provide a clear upgrade to your current setup, this might be the one. During our tests, the 4070 handled Cyberpunk 2077 well – hitting an average of 37fps at native 1440p. However, the GPU was able to boost that to 115fps using DLSS Super Resolution and DLSS Frame Generation.
When it comes to 4K gaming, the 4070 struggles – during our benchmarking, we witnessed stuttering in both Cyberpunk 2077 and Hitman 3 – so if that’s what you’re aiming for, the card isn’t for you.
Is the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 worth it?
If you’re looking to upgrade your GPU to something that’ll handle the 1080p and 1440p gaming with ease, then yes – the RTX 4070 is worth it. It’s more affordable and better value than its siblings and if you’re upgrading from one of its predecessors, you’ll see instant benefit.
However, if you’re looking for something with a bit more power, we’d advise you to steer clear. There are plenty of other options on our best graphics card list that will be more suited to your rig.
